Killer Elite gets an 8/10 because while it is high entertainment for a macho thriller, the plot twists can be puzzling at times. When you get Jason Statham and Clive Owen on the same screen, and throw in an aging badass like Robert DeNiro, you just know that it's going to be one heck of a ride.<br/><br/>This film is such a heck of a ride, it almost makes you want to get off at the end, turn right around to get back in line and do it again. In fact, that's exactly what I did because the first time through there was stuff I missed or didn't pay enough attention to.<br/><br/>It's fast paced, reasonably well acted and reasonably well written. <br/><br/>Killer Elite is a known quantity. This ain't no chick flick.
You could do a lot worse than to plonk yourself down in front of this one. I think Jason Statham's casting has coloured the film for somepurely an action vehicle and i was surprised and pleased to find out that it is a lot more than that.<br/><br/>There is an honest effort made here to interweave a reasonably plotted spy thriller, with a clash of personal moral agendas, that creates an ambiguous tale, rather than a simple black and white one.<br/><br/>The story unfolds nicely and when it comes time for the strenuous physicality, its exciting, but maintains a sense of realismwell.<br/><br/>The cast all do a good job, the main premise is that these men are all highly skilled, professionals and your never less than convinced of this.<br/><br/>Don't let any preconceptions you might have formed put you off here, this is a good action movie, but its also more than just an action movie.
